Court Ordered Rehabilitation Education Providers Services Organization
Solving the Nation’s mental health crisis in probation and the US court systems is a top initiative for court ordered rehabilitation education leaders, as nearly half of US employees say poor mental health is a primary cause of their judicial involvement.
Nearly 50 percent of POs/Caseworkers we spoke to cited the primary cause of their poor mental health was an inability to help a probationer who was having repetitive issues in court or probation. And 100% of probationers we talked to cited poor mental health as a possible reason for their reoccurring issues in court and/or probation.
At yearend 2020, an estimated 3,890,400 adults were under community supervision (probation or parole), down 276,500 from January 1, 2020. An estimated 1 in 66 adults U.S. residents were under community supervision at the end of 2020. Probation and Parole in the United States, 2020:

With the incidence of poor mental health cases related to work rising, so does the cost. For example, the average worker calls off work unexpectedly, only 2.5 days annually. By contrast, those under severe mental strain take 12 days off each year, at an estimated $46.7 billion in lost productivity. This growing price tag has business experts wondering if a mental health pandemic is on the horizon.
The symptoms of anxiety and depression disorders include prolonged feelings of anger, stress, worry, and sadness. Left unattended, poor mental health can destroy employees’ teams, families, schools, and institutions. Currently impacting 41.5% of US adults, mental health disorders are a growing threat to workplace ideas and energy. Small businesses, which employ 50% of the American workforce, are at the most significant risk and paying a high price tag.
